Sketchpad on the iPad

Posted: 25th April 2010 by admin in iPad

So since Ive gotten the iPad… and a stylus pen for it … Ive been playing with the Sketchbook Pro program a bit lately. Sketchbook Pro is like Painter Basic so learning the tools has been a little awkward. For example, if the palm of your hand presses anywhere on the screen it applys the pen effect so using the stylus has been a slight challenge – like I can’t have my hand rest on the iPad anywhere while drawing. The other problem with the iPad/Sketchbook Pro is that their is only one pen weight- only one pressure level. Either way its been fun to “doodle on the go” or doodle in bed (like these from last nite).

Drink and Draw

Well last week I went to a local meetup Drink and Draw. Just had some time this morning to scan in one of the doodle pages I did in my sketchbook. I didn’t want to break out my tablet and draw at the bar … lol … since everyone else was drawing in a sketchbook. So here is my drunken doodles.Doodle

Expanding my canvas

In an attempt to get myself to draw more … even doing doodles and such… here is a website/blog of my stuff. It will be slow going at first, but my goal will be to try and post every few days some type of drawing. I’ve been playing around with my modbook trying to learn how to draw and paint directly into Painter and Photoshop. Im old school. I like pen and paper. But I want to learn how to draw/paint images digitally. It’s been VERY frustrating. Anyways Ive been playing with various brushes in Painter… so I decided to start with something Im very familiar/confortable with … felt marker. The only problem with drawing digitally… Ive deleted about a dozen doodles/sketches. Why? Because it’s easy… too easy. Just hit the trash button, lol. I guess Ill try not to do that as much. So here is one I didn’t delete, entitled “Kel” :)
